Hey all,

Ive been wanting to write this for a while so here goes.

My Scholar Guide. First things first I will list each skill (Scholar job Skills) and the way I use them.
At the end I'll provide some Macro's I used to help control Eos. (I don't use Selene personally).

I will start by listing the job skills once you hit level 30 and become a scholar.

(Level 30) Adloquium: Heals the tank for a reduced amount and provides a shield equal to the amount healed.
This is a great spell however its MP cost early on means you cant afford to spam it.
My advice for using Adlo is this: Precast when you know a bit hit is incoming on the tank. Precast before the tank pulls along with your other buffs.

(Level 35) Succor: Pretty much the same as Adlo however Succor is reduced even further but provides and AoE sheild on every party member it hits. (Including Pets and Chocobo's in open world).
My advice for Succor is fairly simple.
If you know a party wide attack is coming and want to reduce the overall damage dealt to your party, precast succor before the attack lands, and again at about 95% that way when the hit lands everybody should have a shield, and after the hit lands you get a quick heal and another shield in case someone pulls aggro, or gets a random-aggro targeted move.

(Level 40) Leeches: Scholar version of Esuna. Removed one (random) debuff (negative effect) on your target.
There really isn't much advice I can give with this spell. If you think you can remove a debuff, cast Leeches. Most can be removed however there are some that ignore dispelling moves such as this one.

(Level 45) Sacred Soil: Ground Target defensive 'bubble'. Provides a 20% increase to defense and magic defense. Sacred Soil can be very useful when used correctly (timing and buff wise) It has a large ground-target AoE (similar to caster limit break, bard Flaming arrow and so on) If you haven't used these before you will see a large orange target circle when you activate Sacred Soil. Place that where you need it (where your party is, or is moving to) when required (its time is only around 15 seconds so don't precast too early as it is an instant effect spell). This spell is very useful when you know a large hit is incoming and you know that either you have enough party members within the 'bubble' to make use of its effect, or your party members need to 'soak' damage together to split the overall damage dealt.
My advice for using this is as follows: Cast Succor, place Sacred soil, Eos cast Fey Covenant, precast Succor again right before the attack lands.
Doing this you can mitigate a lot of damage coming at your party.

(Level 50) Lustrate. Simply put, Scholars ultimate healing spell. It is instant cast, has a one-two second cool down and heals the target for 25% of their MAX hp regardless of debuffs. Its draw back is it can only be used 3 times every 60 seconds.
Advice for this spell is save them for emergencies. Tank about to die? Lustrate. Your about to die as the healer? Lustrate.

That is an overview of the skills that you will get as a scholar.

Now a little advice on how to play your scholar well overall.

First up know this: You get one genuine heal. Physick. It is a level 4 Arcanist spell and has its uses as your primary heal and the only heal you have that only heals.

Secondly: Aetherflow. This spell is instant cast, has a 60 second cool down timer and grants you a maximum of Three (3) stacks of the Aetherflow buff. Each stack allows you to use ONE spell such as Lustrate, Sacred Soil, Energy Drain or Bane. Once you used your 3 stacks of Aetherflow, you must wait 60 seconds for it to come back.
So some general advice, use physick as much as possible in combat, save your Aetherflow stacks for emergencies (such as needing to triple lustrate the tank) but if you have all 3 stacks when aetherflow is off cool down, use things such as energy drain or put up your DoTs and bane before recast Aetherflow.

Using your buff spells (Such as Adlo, Eye for an Eye, Succor, Sacred Soil, Protect and Stoneskin) should be used according the the situation.

Adlo before the tank pulls, or before any boss fight. (The shield is helpful)
Eye for an Eye after Adlo.

Protect at the start of any dungeon unless you have a White Mage.

Stoneskin is tricky. White Mages get a traited version which is much better then the Scholar one, personally I like to cast it on everyone because it has a 30 min timer and mitigates 10% of the targets max HP of damage.
I know there are others who don't because it is only 10%. I see it as an extra precaution in case someone doesn't dodge an AoE.

In terms of your AI pets, Ill put in advice for Eos as that is the one I use (Summon I)
I have 4 Macro's I use to keep Eos under control. as a Ps4 player I have limited hotbar Space so I do this:

One:
/pac "Fey illumination"
/ac "Adloquium" <t>

Two:
/pac "Fey Covenant"
/ac "Sacred Soil"

Three:
/pac "Embrace" <t>
/ac "Physick" <t>

Four:
/ac "Rouse"
/pac "Whispering Dawn"

Those are my four (4) Macro's I use to control Eos.

The first provides a 25% healing bonus for 20 seconds and boosts the heal and shield of Adlo.

The Second provides an additional 20% defense for Sacred Soil.

The Third makes Eos heal with you, its not perfect as Eos's cast timer is slightly longer then yours however its basically a Cure II spam that can be maintained easily.

The Fourth boosts Eos's healing abilities for the Scholar "Medica II" AoE regen buff.

I hope this helps any who read it but remember, this is my play style and general advice. Every player has their own style and will differ from mine. This is a GENERAL guide for normal game play. End Game Raiding will require changes to what you do and when should you get into that as a scholar.

Enjoy your healing job!

A couple of Macroes I have for Sch while using selene with obey command active

While dpsing and using Selene with obey command on
/ac "rouse"
/ac "Ruin" <t>
/pac "Fey Glow"
/pac "Embrace" <tt>

This will force selene to heal who ever your target is attacking and will keep your spell speed at max and tank receiving max heals from selene

While healing and need to interrupt use the following macro
/ac "physick" <t>
/pac "silent dusk" <tt>

Important point to note with pet healing is that they will always prioritize anyone below 75% hp even when on obey

Positioning Pets
Remember to position pets in a suitable location, as they don't take as much damage from aoes as players do they can generally be placed centrally, this is good to ensure the party receives the benefits from your Fairies. Be mindful of knockbacks, you may realise that your Fairy has been knocked into the wall and is out of range of all of your party.

Lustrates
Triple lustrate is a panic response, we've all done it but sometimes its not as urgent as you think, as lustrate has its own global cool down timer to your other healing spell it is often more effective to the weave lustrate between direct heals from Aldo or Physick.
e.g. lustrate, Aldo, lustrate, physick, lustrate, aldo,

Also don't forget the power of crit!
Crit Aldo = double bubble e.g. crit aldo for 1.5k = 3k bubble!
Crit heal from fairy = spell speed buff for you!

Healing/Mitigator Role
I play both WHM and SCH, WHM is more reactive healing while SCH is pre-emptive casting to mitigate aoe damage, and primary Tank healer, do not waste your time spamming succors to heal a group up when you are raiding with a WHM leave the WHM top everyone off, 1 cure III or a couple of medica I/II from a WHM will easily top up a group after an AOE hit, Remember Tank is your Priority!
